Inwood Hill Park Compost Build: Volunteers Needed

Things are moving along with the expansion of the composting facilities at the Inwood Hill Nature Center.  Now we need volunteers!  The build will start on May 29th (yes that's Memorial Day Weekend) at 10 AM and will wrap up between 5 and 6 PM.  If needed, work will continue on the 30th, however most of the work and thus most of the need is for the 29th.  Leave a comment below or contact us via twitter - @uptowncompost - if you are interested.

Uptown Compost Map

This is designed to be a one stop shop for up-to-date info on where to compost in Northern Manhattan. If you know of a public place to compost in the neighborhood that isn’t up here yet please let us know in the comments section.
Plan for compost in Washington Heights - need feedback and ideas.

There are a number of people already composting in their homes with worm bins or in their yards or rooftops. If you are already composting please leave a comment so we can get you on the map. We want to show how much Northern Manhattan cares about reducing the waste stream.

If you know of any more composting sites let us know in the comments and we will put it on the map!
